Primate Safari Lodge is located just in the heart of Kibale National Park, 100 metres adjacent to tourists briefing center at Kanyanchu. This is 36km from Fort Portal and 5 hours’ drive from Kampala. Sounds of Kibale’s gentle giants, the chimpanzees, can easily be heard from the lodge peninsular.
The lodge is a mid-range facility with rooms, bandas and tents available in place.
All of the nine spacious and en-suite luxury cottages, are secluded deep in the forest for maximum privacy. They also provide a natural environment and feel, that come complete with 2x double sized bed or 1x king sized bed. These rooms also have a sitting area with two comfortable arm chairs, a reading table and an adjoining large veranda, providing an excellent view of the forest.
The seven mid-level forest cottages are private and en-suite with spacious bathrooms, 2x Twin sized beds or 1x king sized bed. They as well have a spacious veranda over-looking the rain-forest with lounge chairs.
The popular double storied ‘Elephant Banda’ has an upstairs bedroom fitted with a giant king size bed. Downstairs, there is a living room where we can also place a smaller extra bed. As a double occupancy, it is very popular with honeymooners, anniversary celebrants and the ‘romantic’ couples. These can enjoy private lounging and dining, at the extensive veranda upstairs, that seems to go right into the forest.
Cottage Amenities at Primate Safari Lodge
For the adventurous at heart, Primate Safari Lodge offers a secluded sky tree house, but not self-contained. This is about 200 metres deep in the forest. This is hang upon a gigantic tree and elevated about 10m above the ground overlooking an elephant meadow. Guests here enjoy excellent views over the forest canopy that is regularly visited by black and white colobus monkeys, red tailed monkeys, blue monkeys, forest elephants and even chimpanzees at times.
This one bedroom comes fitted with a single size bunk bed providing comfortable sleeping for maximum two persons on separate beds.
While here, guests dine and refresh at the main lodge dining room and are escorted to/from the Tree House before dusk and after day break. The lodge also has an adjacent camp site as well as a take away restaurant, for convenience. Please remember to bring along your own camping gear.
Other lodge amenities include a spacious dining terrace, a well-stocked bar, complimentary room service, a secluded lounge area with a small library. Guests can also enjoy an evening camp fire, laundry service (at a small fee) as well as free WiFi in the public areas.
