Lake Rukwanzi is among the fifty crater lakes that found around Kasenda crater lake region in Western Uganda. It’s one of the many beautiful spots in the crater lakes belt of Ndali/Kasenda and the land surrounded by Lake Rukwanzi is gentle and fertile. This has enabled the growth of banana and tea plantations, which offer you a beautiful scenery around the area.
Lake Rukwanzi was formed rather recent in the light of ancient volcanic activity in Uganda. Today they are seen as unique, but when they exploded they caused tremendous damage after the serious intense heat and pressure to the upper mantle. The interior earth which blew out ash and rocks a distance farther away, today is filled with water that created the lake that looks so amazing and beautiful to see.
The natural endowment around Lake Rukwanzi has increased the number of visitors visiting Lake Rukwanzi.
Activities Around Lake Rukwanzi
Visitors engage in different activities such as nature walk, hiking walk, bird watching, camping, sun bathing, community visit, and sightseeing among others. This has enabled a couple of luxury lodges to be set up in the area, with more affordable options being developed.
This lake is surrounded by forest and intensely steep crater rims that generally keep everyone out. This create little sanctuaries for monkeys and birds, meaning that you can easily spot many monkeys while at this spot. It’s home to several bird species, which are more attractive especially to the bird lovers thus making it a wonderful place for a nature walk.
Apart from exploring places around Kibale Forest National Park, guests roam to other safari destination in Uganda, including making extension to Queen Elizabeth National Park for either a game safari drive or a boat cruise on Kazinga Channel.
